Espadrilles with gingerbread heart motif launched as new Croatian souvenir

Espadrilles with a traditional gingerbread heart motif and embellished with Swarovski crystals were launched in Zagreb on Monday as a new Croatian souvenir, designed in collaboration between the Borovo shoe factory and the Croatian fashion brand Hippy Garden. The espadrilles are hand-made from natural materials and come packed in a recycled box of state-of-the-art design, Hippy Garden fashion designer Djurdjica Vorkapic said.

The Obonjan Riviera project on the Obonjan island in the Sibenik archipelago is so much more than tourism because along with new innovative services and accommodation on the island, which will be in use already this summer, the project brings new values and gives an encouragement to the further development of the Sibenik region, it was said at the presentation of the project on Tuesday. Minister announces bill on land for tourism purposes by year's end

A bill on land for tourism purposes should be prepared by the year's end, Tourism Minister Anton Kliman said on Friday in Funtana in Istria County, where he was attending a meeting of the Croatian Camping Union (KUH). "I believe that a bill will be prepared by the end of the year and KUH representatives will be involved in writing the bill," Kliman said. According to Kliman, a new investment cycle in the camping sector is expected to start then as well, as it accounts for 25% of Croatia's tourism.

Eight Croatian spas to receive Sustainable Spa certificates
Eight Croatian spas will this week be awarded with "Sustainable Spa" certificates following several months of assessment that confirm that they apply sustainable green standards in all business segments, the Association of Employers in Croatian Hospitality (UPUHH) reported on Monday. Of the eleven spas in Croatia, eight will receive the first sustainability certificates that will be presented at a ceremony in Zagreb on Wednesday. The spas to be awarded are: Sv. Martin na Muri, Terme Tuhelj, Varazdinske Toplice, the Veli Losinj health resort, Terme Jezercica, Istarske Toplice, Bizovacke Toplice and Daruvarske Toplice.

Croatia Boat Show with twice as many vessels this year

This year's 18th Croatia Boat Show will be held in the central Dalmatian city of Split, April 13 - 17 and will see twice as many boats as were exhibited last year with as many as 65 vessels in the sea, the fair's organisers said on Friday. The fair will be larger than last year due to a recovery of the nautical sector, representatives of the Profectus company, that organises the fair, told a press conference.
