The three millionth passenger arrived at Zagreb's Franjo Tudjman airport on Tuesday and it is expected that by the end of the year, more than 3.1 million passengers will have arrived at the airport, which is 10% to 12% more than last year, Zagreb International Airport (MZLZ) Management Board President Jacques Feron said.
19.12.2016. | NewsIn September this year 1.87 million tourists stayed in commercial accommodation facilities in Croatia which is 14.5% more than in the corresponding period last year and generated 9.66 million overnight stays, up 11.5% more than last year the State Bureau of Statistics (DZS) reported on Tuesday. In the first nine months of this year there were 74.6 million overnight stays in commercial facilities which is an increase of 8.6% on the year. Foreign tourists accounted for 93.1% of these bed nights, which is 9.2% more than last year while domestic tourists accounted for 6.9% or an increase of 1.6% in the first nine months of 2016.

The event, now in its 37th year, generates more than £2.5 billion of travel industry contracts.

This Observatory, hosted by the Institute for Tourism in Zagreb, is responsible for monitoring sustainable tourism in the Adriatic Croatia. “Sustainable tourism development requires adequate measurement and evidence-based decision-making. We are very pleased to welcome the Croatian Sustainable Tourism Observatory to the UNWTO INSTO Network. We trust it can make a key contribution to support the vision set by Croatia for the future of its tourism sector; a sector that contributes to the three pillars of sustainability: economic, social and environmental” said UNWTO Secretary-General Taleb Rifai. “Through its membership in INSTO, Croatia is also sharing the global strategic commitment to act responsibly and with care towards the space we live in,” mentioned the Ministry of Tourism of Croatia, Gari Cappelli.
01.11.2016. | PageCroatia's new Tourism Minister Gari Capelli on Thursday took over from his predecessor Anton Kliman, saying that he would continue those projects that had already started and that he would do everything for tourism to develop even better. After the handover ceremony Capelli and Kliman underscored that they had already cooperated successfully in the Croatian Democratic Union's (HDZ) tourism committee and also during the past year, in a project involving the airport in Mali Losinj, when Capelli was the mayor of that town and the president of the local tourism board.
