Bright prospects for Croatian tourism in 2018

Croatia's tourism expects a 5% rise in turnover in 2018 and also more investments whereby 15,000 more people can be employed in this sector compared to 2017. The outgoing year with the estimated revenues of 11.5 billion euros, of which 10 billion whave been made by foreign guests, which was EUR 1.5 billion more than in 2016, will be remembered for those records.

By the end of the year, some 18.5 million tourists are set to have visited Croatia, making 103 million overnight stays.

Croatian Tourism Minister Gari Cappeli has told Hina that a further rise by 5% in tourist turnover and financial results can be expected in 2018.

Many new things are being prepared to enhance the tourist trade off-season, says the minister. 

This includes stronger cooperation with tour operators and airlines that plan more programmes and flights in spring and in autumn and winter, Cappelli says.

He expects 2018 to record up to 20 million arrivals of guests and 110 million overnight stays, with over 12 billion euros in revenues.

Growing investments

In 2017, as much as EUR 850 million has been invested in the tourism sector in Croatia, and the bulk of those investments have been  private.

 In 2018, investments are supposed to rise to 950 million euros and can go higher to a billion euros provided that planned investments in health tourism kick off.
