HTZ: Tourist overnight stays up 39% in May, 24% up in first five monthsLarge  increases in tourist arrivals and stays were recorded in Croatia in May, of 30% and close to 40% year on year respectively, which has resulted in the number of arrivals and overnight stays in the first five months of this year going up by 19% and 24% respectively, the Croatian Tourism Board (HTZ) said on Tuesday. According to data from the eVisitor and eCrew systems, 1.7 million tourists visited Croatia in May, generating 6.5 million overnight stays, while in the first five months 3.6 million tourists visited the country, generating 11.6 million overnight stays. 05.06.2018. | News

Croatia ranked among top ten countries for unconventional travelThe U.S. network of luxury travel agencies Virtuoso has ranked Croatia among the world's top ten destinations for unconventional family travel with authentic experiences, the Croatian Tourism Board (HTZ) said last Wednesday, noting that Croatia was increasingly attracting U.S. travellers seeking luxury travel and travel planned by experts. "That this is a significant indicator is evidenced by the fact that among the top ten countries in that category, aside from Croatia, is only one other European country, Iceland," the HTZ said, noting that Croatia's rating was based on an analysis of Virtuoso's current and planned bookings. 03.06.2018. | News

Becoming a golf destination is imperative for Croatian tourism, conference toldJoining the family of golf destinations is imperative for the Croatian tourism industry, because without it Croatia will remain a seasonal tourist destination, the first conference on golf tourism in Croatia said in the northern Adriatic town of Porec. Assistant Tourism Minister Robert Pende said that Croatia would not be able to  increase the accommodation occupancy rate significantly without making progress in the golf segment. Rural tourism stands good chance of developing in CroatiaThere are currently about 500 family-run farms which also cater for tourists, and this is still insufficient in comparison to the potential for developing agritourism, which will require a broader support, including an improved legislative framework, Dijana Katica, the head of the Croatian association for tourism and rural development has recently said in an interview with Hina.
