The first edition of a walking festival through the mountainous region of Lika will be organised on 1-2 September between the towns of Gospic and Otocac, and the organisers have boasted that it is the first festival of this kind in Croatia.

The head of the Lika-Senj County tourist board, Ivan Radosevic, has said that they are extremely motivated to position Croatia as a desirable destination on the map of walking festivals.

The festival walkers will be offered a few routes and on the first day one of the routes is 23 kilometres long and the other 30 kilometres.

On 2 September, the second day, the festival route is intended to make people better acquainted with the scenery along the Gacka river, while passing 18-kilometre and 34-kilometre routes along that river.

Applications for participating in the festival can be sent to http://www.croatiawalk.com/ until 26 August.
