Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Oleg Butkovic said on Thursday that his department was thinking of how to set up transport corridors to help the tourism sector following the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic.

Asked by the press about possibilities for establishing certain air corridors for potential tourists this summer, Butkovic said that on Wednesday Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic instructed all the departments to prepare measures geared towards getting back to normal life.

"We will cover that segment (transport), including not only air transport but also maritime, rail and bus transport." Butkovic said, adding that plans would be drawn up by Friday.

Next week political discussions on the issue can be held, and of course, "epidemiologists will have a final say," the minister explained.

He expected some of the nautical tourism to go on this summer, noting that measures would be prepared accordingly.

Butkovic said that construction work on the Peljesac Bridge was proceeding as planned.

The construction of the bridge and the whole Southern Dalmatia Connectivity project, including access roads, is going on well despite the coronavirus epidemic, he added. (Hina/FaH)
