The Croatian Tourism Board (HTZ) and Slovenia's Tourism Organisation (STO) are jointly promoting their tourist trade this week at workshops in South Korea and Japan and have attracted a lot of interest by the most important partners on the those markets which indicate a further growth in turnover, HTZ reported on Wednesday.

Croatia and Slovenia are presenting their tourist services as part of the "Experience Croatia, Feel Slovenia" workshops that have been held on markets overseas for several years now.

This week, the first workshop was held with tour operators and agencies in Seoul and the second was in Tokyo.

"The workshop in Seoul was held during the final phase before the officially opening the HTZ office in South Korea and more than 60 partners attended the workshop which is proof that promotional activities on that market are producing results," HTZ director Kristjan Stanicic said.,

This year Korean tourists have to date generated 377,000 bed nights, up 5% from last year.

The increase from that market can be ascribed to charter flights between Croatia and Korea as well as a regular flight service introduced between Seoul and Zagreb last year, and it has been also operated this year by Korean Airlines.

HTZ noted that 70% of Korean tourists come in organised groups and figures on individual visitors are on the rise too.

On the other hand Japanese tourists have shown an increase in individual trips compared to organised tours.

A typical trip for Korean and Japanese tourists includes these destinations: Zagreb, the Plitvice Lakes, Split, Trogir and Dubrovnik.
