Government decisions aimed at improving living conditions in Krapina county

Krapina-Zagorje County prefect Zeljko Kolar said at a government session in Krapina on Friday that many good decisions on the county's development would be made and that every contract signed would improve living conditions in that part of the country.

"I'm glad the government has, in a way, valorised all the projects prepared by Krapina-Zagorje County and that, regardless of whether we are in power or the opposition, we have common goals when it comes to development and creating the best living conditions possible in this region,"said Kolar, a Social Democratic Party (SDP) official.

2018 best year in history of Zagorje region's economy

The county has been recording growth since the second half of 2013 and employment has increased from 33,000 to 38,000, he said, adding that 2018 had been the best year in the history of Zagorje's economy with over HRK 13 billion in revenues.

Kolar said the county was export-oriented and that last year it was voted Croatia's best continental tourism destination, with 180,000 arrivals and over 400,000 nights. About 200,000 people visit Zagorje's museums and about one million the Marian shrine of Marija Bistrica.

Kolar said he would have preferred more coordination with some ministries and called for signing a development agreement with the Regional Development Ministry drawn up by five north-western counties.
