The southern Croatian seaside resort of Dubrovnik is hosting a three-day congress of the European Camping Association, Camping Cheque 2005, which began on Friday, pooling about 600 participants from France, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands and Croatia.

Campers account for 28% of overnight stays in Croatia for the fourth consecutive year, said Josipa Cveli-Bonifacic, president of the Croatian Camping Association.

She recalled that 1.9 million campers visited Croatia in this year's first nine months, which is the figure recorded in 2004. Croatia has 526 registered camps. (Hina)
