Croatia has been awarded the bronze medal for Best Destination - Mediterranean at the 2021 Travvy Awards while the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) has been awarded the silver for Best Escorted Tour Operator - Europe, HTZ said on Friday, adding that the Travvy Awards are known as the "tourism Oscars".

The award ceremony for the 7th edition of the Travvy Awards was held at the end of this week in Miami, and the director of HTZ's New York branch, Ina Rodin, said this was "excellent news" for Croatia and its tourism industry.

"We are excited that Croatia continues to be popular among the best ambassadors, tourism agents and their clients. Receiving two prestigious Travvy awards...is an excellent overture into 2022. These awards from the leading industry professionals put wind in our sails and are proof of the valuable work, commitment and overall efforts by HTZ and tourism stakeholders from the entire country to present Croatia in the best light in the world as a destination that successfully attracts American tourists," said Rodin, who accepted the awards.

Commenting on the awards, HTZ Director Kristjan Staničić said that winning such awards during the pandemic was an exceptional success and achievement for the Croatian tourism sector.

"These awards are additional confirmation of the excellent position our country has on the tourism map of the world," said Staničić.

The annual Travvy Awards are organised by Northstar Travel Media, LLC, with the aim of highlighting the best examples of excellence and achievement in the tourism industry.
