Croatia 11th of 100 top destinations in 2021 for US tourists

​The USA Today daily has ranked Croatia as the eleventh most desirable travel destination in 2021, the Croatian National Tourism Board (HTZ) reported on Monday.

"Hoping that the situation with COVID will stabilise in 2021 and travel will once again on the most part be possible again, employees and associates at USA Today and its 10Best.com web portal have highlighted the most attractive travel destinations which has included Croatia in 11th place of 100 destinations," said the director of HTZ's branch in the USA, Ina Rodin.

USA Today is one of the most read dailies in America and Croatia has been ranked alongside with the Grand Canyon national park in Arizona for instance, or Madagascar, Hawaii, Paris, Prague, Italy, Greece and Australia.

Describing Croatia in the article, USA Today once again pointed out that The Game of Thrones was filmed on site in Croatia adding that a lot of family trips and travel were cancelled in 2020 however now that a vaccine has been found, it expects that travel will make a come back in 2021.

HTZ added that Croatia was also described positively on the popular TravelDailyNews portal in an article "Below Deck Mediterranean: Most Instagrammable locations", which mentions Dubrovnik along with Santorini, Capri, Cannes and Majorca as sites were the Below Deck serial was filmed.

According to the eVisitor app, 54,000 US citizens visited Croatia in 2020, generating 278,000 bed nights. That accounts for 50.3% of arrivals and 62.6% of bed nights generated by US travellers in 2019. (Hina)
