Tourism season should be good but lack of labour existsIndications on the market and the results of sales promise a good tourism year which has already been seen in turnover in the first few months of the year however the problem of the lack of staff is bothering a lot of companies, particularly smaller companies in hospitality, the Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK) said on Tuesday. The lack of labour in the tourism sector was one of the main topics at a meeting between the HGK and representatives from the tourism sector. ​Croatia's tourism presented at Arabian Travel Market in DubaiThe Croatian National Tourism Board (HTZ) will present Croatia's tourism services at the Arabian Travel Market which, this year is celebrating 25 years as the leading global event for the Middle East travel industry. The Arabian Travel Market is the market leading, international travel and tourism event unlocking business potential within the Middle East for inbound and outbound tourism professionals. EUR 1bn expected to be invested in Croatian tourism industry this year, mostly in hotelsNearly a million euros is expected to be invested in the Croatian tourism industry this year, which is 15 percent more than last year and 40 percent more than in 2016, and most of the investment will go towards 4- and 5-star hotels, Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli said on Thursday. Cappelli was speaking at the start of the 24th international conference "Tourism and Hospitality Industry 2018: Trends and Challenges", organised by the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management in the northern Adriatic town of Opatija. 26.04.2018. | News
Club Adriatic sold to Swiss-based Immo Invest for HRK 54 mnThe Restructuring and Sale Centre (CERP) on Wednesday signed a HRK 54 million (EUR 7.3 million) contract with the Swiss company Immo Invest Partner on the sale of three business stakes or 100% of the founding capital of the Club Adriatic tourism company. The contract on the transfer of Club Adriatic shares was signed by CERP director Milan Plecas and the managing director of Immo Partner AG, Dzek Djoric, CERP reported on its web site. 15.04.2018. | News
Zadar becomes part of Maritime Silk RoadThe port of Zadar this year officially became part of the Maritime Silk Road, as confirmed by a final declaration signed at a conference on cooperation in cruise tourism on the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, held at the ASEAN business forum in Bo'ao, China, Zadar County said on Thursday. A Zadar County delegation attended the Boao Forum for Asia, the biggest economic forum in Asia, and earlier this week signed a letter of intent on the establishment of friendly relations with Hainan province. 12.04.2018. | News
​Gov't gives consent for annex to Kupari 1 contractThe government on Tuesday gave its consent to the State Assets Ministry to sign with the Avenue Ulaganja investment company an annex to a contract on the Kupari 1 tourism development project, defining new deadlines for submissions of a letter of intent from the new hotel operator and physical planning data. In March 2016, the government signed with the bidders Avenija Ulaganja and Avenue Osteuropa a contract the realisation of Kupari 1, a project estimated at over HRK 700 million. 10.04.2018. | News
Cappelli: Tourist industry not heading towards mass tourism, but sustainabilityThe Croatian tourist industry is not heading towards mass tourism, but integral development, sustainability and quality, which is why there is growing demand for Croatia, Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli told Hina in an interview. "This year we expect a 7% increase in tourism turnover over 2017 and tourism investment to increase to nearly a billion euros. This will certainly further improve service quality, in which we have been making progress every year, especially with regard to high-category hotel accommodation," Cappelli said. He said that Croatia was becoming increasingly interesting to investors, so that about 40 new or newly-renovated hotels were expected to open this year, much like last year. 09.04.2018. | News

Over 70 new regular flights introduced from March to OctoberBetween March 25 and October 27, Croatia has over 70 new regular flights, while the total number is 15% higher than last year, over 34,400, the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) said in a press release on Thursday. HTZ director Kristjan Stanicic says one of the key goals is to position Croatia as an attractive year-round destination with very good transport connections and that flights are key for extending tourist turnover in the shoulder seasons, the press release said. Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli believes flights are important also for expanding demand in markets with the highest growth potential and that they make it possible for Croatia to become an even more competitive and interesting destination. 05.04.2018. | News
