Karlovac Aquatika joins Global Network of Water MuseumsThe Croatian public institution Aquatika - the Karlovac Freshwater Aquarium has recently joined the Global Network of Water Museums as the first Croatian institution to do so. The institution's head, Margarita Markusic Kulas, said Aquatika was extremely proud of becoming a part of the prestigious association. The Global Network of Water Museums was placed under the umbrella of UNESCO’s International Hydrological Programme (IHP) in June 2018 by its Intergovernmental Council, composed of 36 member states.The new IHP initiative aims to reconnect people and water in all of its dimensions. It is expected to strengthen IHP’s communication and capacity to reach new audiences in order to deploy and enhance the benefit of formal and informal water education, according to information on the UNESCO website. 09.06.2019. | News
Croatia needs golf tourism because of its multiplicative effectsGolf tourism is one of the most competitive and profitable forms of tourism worldwide and Croatia definitely needs that type of tourism as it brings about additional values and multiplicative effects for the development of a destination and it also enables the prolongation of the tourist season, according to the conclusions of the 4th conference on golf tourism in the Istrian coastal town of Porec. As many as 173 new golf courses have been built in 26 countries in Europe. Croatia, Dubrovnik, Split record biggest jumps in popularity on TripAdvisorAccording to the global travel portal TripAdvisor, Croatia is among the countries with the highest increases in searches and popularity, by 27% in the first four months of the year, while Dubrovnik and Split were ranked first and second under that criterion, the National Tourist Board (HTZ) said on Monday. Citing just obtained data on the behaviour and visits by TripAdvisor users, HTZ said the popularity and searches for Dubrovnik and Split in the first months of the year jumped 46% and 41% respectively. 03.06.2019. | News

Croatian's National Tourist Board to open office in Madrid in 2020The Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) plans to open an office in Madrid at the beginning of 2020 due to growing interest by Spanish tourists to visit Croatia and also because the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) has its headquarters in Madrid. HTZ made the announcement after HTZ Director-General Kristjan Stanicic met with UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili, who is currently visiting Zagreb where the 64th Meeting of the UNWTO Commission for Europe and Workshop on Growth, Innovation and Partnership is currently being held. 30.05.2019. | News
