​1 in 3 Croatian hotels has accommodation for persons with reduced mobility and with disability

Last year a third of Croatian hotels and similar establishments had accommodation designed for persons with reduced mobility or with disability, with 84 percent of such accommodation provided by hotels, a survey carried out by the National Bureau of Statistics (DZS) shows.

The survey, entitled "Accessibility of Tourist Accommodation Establishments to Persons with Reduced Mobility in 2018", covered hotels, holiday resorts, tourist apartments, boarding houses and guest houses.

The survey found that 355 or 33.1 percent of 1,074 establishments provided accommodation designed for persons with reduced mobility. They had 1,515 accommodation units (1,303 rooms and 212 suites) for persons with reduced mobility.

The largest number of accommodation units designed for persons with reduced mobility (1,271, or 84 percent) were provided by hotels, followed by boarding houses and guest houses (11 percent). Such accommodation was least available in tourist resorts (4.1 percent of all accommodation units) and tourist apartments (1.4 percent).

The largest number of accommodation units designed for persons with reduced mobility were available in Split-Dalmatia County (20.5 percent of all units), Istria County (14 percent), Primorje-Gorski Kotar County (13 percent), Zadar County (10.2 percent), Dubrovnik-Neretva County (9.7 percent) and the City of Zagreb (9.4 percent).
