Zagreb 2nd best European destination

Zagreb has been voted the second best destination in Europe, according to an online opinion poll conducted by the European Best Destinations Portal, the tourist authorities in the Croatian capital reported on Thursday.

Porto, Portugal, ranks first on that list. Zagreb comes second and is ahead of 18 other European cities.

The Brussels-based European Best Destinations is a nonprofit organisation that promotes culture and tourism throughout Europe.

Zagreb's rising popularity is evidenced in the fact that the city registered a 6% rise in the number of visitors in January, with the number of foreign guests increasing by 4%, and most of them arriving from Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Germany. (Hina)
