The Valamar hotel group is to open a renovated campsite near the town of Krk on the northern Adriatic island of the same name in the second half of April, investing HRK 16 million in its reconstruction and market repositioning, the hotel group said this past week.

Camp Krk, which is the new name of Camp Politin, will be the first camping site in Croatia to offer a wellness centre and special facilities for teenagers. The camp has repositioned itself from a three-star naturist camp to a four-star "textile" camp, its main target group being families with children.

The camp will be equipped with new luxury mobile homes, each boasting satellite television, a microwave oven, an air conditioner, a kitchen, two rooms and two bathrooms.

At one end of the camp there will be a naturist beach to continue the camp's tradition and to cater for the needs of its old guests.

Valamar operates nine camping grounds on the Adriatic, most of which are rated three stars. Its Lanterna camp in Porec has been rated by the German automobile club ADAC among the four best camping sites in Croatia and awarded a five-star rating. Lanterna is a member of Leading Camping Europe, a prestigious association of the 32 best campsites in Europe. (Hina)
