Investments worth €32 million are planned in Dubrovnik in 2023 as part of an investment cycle by Imperial Riviera after Valamar Riviera and the AZ Pension Funds injected fresh capital into Dubrovnik hotels, Valamar reported on Wednesday.

The planned investments include raising the quality of the Valamar Tirena Hotel from three to four stars, significant improvements in the quality of services and facilities in the Valamar Lacroma Dubrovnik and Club Dubrovnik Sunny by Valamar Hotels, and the construction of Maro World, a family entertainment centre, the company announced.

The latter includes significant investments in the premises of the former Popiva restaurant and Exodus club, and according to Valamar, Maro World will become the largest family entertainment centre in the Adriatic, with an area of 1,800 square meters, equipped with numerous educational and entertainment facilities for children of all ages.

In addition to investments in the tourism portfolio, Valamar also announced investments in improving working conditions.

"In addition to investing in the tourism portfolio, we are focusing on improving working conditions in order to keep the local workforce in Croatia, because that is the prerequisite for the continuous development of service quality and the reason why foreign guests return to our country again and again," the director Valamar's Dubrovnik and Dalmatia region, Tomislav Dumančić, said.

We are investing an additional €20 million in increasing workers' wages, he added.

Valamar Riviera is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, and the Dubrovnik investments are part of this year's big investment cycle in developing the group's tourist portfolio and improving Croatia's tourism offering, worth €58 million.

Valamar plans to invest €50 million by 2025 in destinations and social impact in order to improve the communities in which it operates and strengthen the image of Croatia as a recognisable tourist destination, Valamar said.
