The Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), Taleb Rifai, on Thursday visited the Croatian pavilion at the ITB Berlin tourism fair, underlining that Croatia was a good example of sustainable tourism and that its cooperation with the UNWTO was constantly improving.

Croatia had good results in the tourism sector last year and this year they could be even better, Rifai said after brief talks with Croatian Tourism Minister Darko Lorencin, Croatian Tourism Board director Ratomir Ivicic and other Croatian tourism officials.

Rifai said he was glad that the 100th session of the UNWTO Executive Council would be held in the northern Croatian Adriatic resort of Rovinj and that Croatia deserved such attention from world tourist officials.

Lorencin and Ivicic today also held talks with representatives of the British travel agency Thomas Cook and held meetings with representatives of the German bus operators RDA and BDO, whom the minister informed of a new, simplified procedure for registration of VAT for international bus operators.
