The Tourism Job Fair brought together in Zagreb on Wednesday about 60 employers from tourism and trade sectors with numerous job openings, the director of the Croatian Employment Service (HZZ),  Ante Lončar said.

Some 3,000 visitors interested in working this season are expected to come to the fair.

The job fair is being held for the fifth time and this year it is organised by the HZZ, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Ministry of Labour. The job fair was already held this year in Osijek and Bjelovar.

Lončar said that a survey recently conducted by the HZZ among the unemployed shows that 10,000 people want to work this tourist season, adding that the need for workers is high, especially in construction and tourism. He is confident the job fair will contribute to employment as it did in previous years.

Lončar also said the HZZ currently has about 1,600 vacancies in the tourism sector.

He added that in 2022, a total of 124,000 work permits were issued to foreign nationals, mostly for jobs in the construction sector.
