​Three tourism bills sent to parliament to upgrade tourist boards system

The government on Thursday sent three tourism bills for a second reading in parliament - on tourist boards and tourism promotion, on tourist board membership fees, and on tourist taxes. The bills passed the first reading last year and are expected to pass the second reading in the second quarter of the year.

Presenting the bills, Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli said that there were 312 tourist boards in Croatia and that they would operate based on the destination management model in accordance with modern trends in the industry.
 
The bills encourage the merging of tourist boards and cost-effectiveness based on the principle of financial self-sufficiency.
 
Another novelty is that a fund will be established for continental areas where the tourist industry is not sufficiently developed. (Hina)
