Split, Novi Vinodolski win Silver Flower of Europe 2008 awards

Southern Croatia's Adriatic port of Split won the Silver Flower of Europe 2008 award in the town/city category and Novi Vinodolski in the village category at the final event of the Golden Flower of Europe international competition in flowers, vegetation and landscaping, held in Split on Friday.

In the town/city category, the Golden Flower of Europe went to Duesseldorf in Germany, Cervia in Italy, Letterkenny in Ireland, Tours in France, Tulin in Austria, and Uden in the Netherlands.

In the village category, the gold went to Garstang in Great Britain, Tallanstown in Ireland and Zwevegem in Belgium.

This year's competition featured 5,600 candidates from 12 countries within the European Association for Flowers and Landscape (AEFP in French). Twenty-four cities and villages were given golden, silver and bronze AEFP awards. (Hina)
