More than a half of the Slovenian population engaged in personal travel this summer, making about 2.3 million trips during their annual holidays, mostly abroad, and the most popular destination was Croatia.

This is the first time since the COVID-19 epidemic that the ratio of domestic trips and trips abroad has reversed, Slovenia's STA national news agency reported.

In the third quarter of 2022, 57% of the Slovenian population aged 15 and over made at least one private or business trip. Most of them travelled for private purposes, as many as 989,000 citizens of Slovenia (56%), while 10% travelled for business purposes.

Most of the tourist trips, 64%, were made abroad. Nearly all trips were private, and the number of trips abroad increased compared with the same period in 2021. Croatia was the most popular foreign destination again this year, and it was the choice of 70% of the tourists travelling for private purposes. (Hina)
