Slovak, French police officers on duty along Croatian coast

Two Slovak police officers are working in Croatia's Primorje-Gorski Kotar County during the summer, while two French police are working in Dubrovnik-Neretva County, the two police departments told reporters in Rijeka and Dubrovnik on Friday.

Primorje-Gorski Kotar County police chief Tomislav Dizdar said in Rijeka the arrival of the Slovak officers was part of a project, launched in 2007, engaging police from other countries, apart from Croatia, along the Croatian coastline.

The two Slovak police will be on duty in Crikvenica until the end of this month, when they will be replaced by another two Slovak officers until the end of August.

Slovak Ambassador Roman Supek praised the cooperation between the Croatian and Slovak police forces.

The Slovak Embassy's website contains the phone numbers of the Slovak police on duty in the northern Adriatic Kvarner region so that Slovak tourists may contact them if necessary, it was said.

Two French police officers are on duty in the southern Dubrovnik-Neretva County until August 31, in accordance with a memorandum of cooperation between the Croatian and French police forces signed this year.

County police chief Tonci Glumac said in Dubrovnik French and Croatian police had been cooperating for the fourth consecutive year, adding that the numerous French tourists in the Dubrovnik area were especially happy about the presence of French officers.

Interpol representatives are also working in Dubrovnik-Neretva County until August 31.

Police officers from Poland, Germany, Hungary and Austria are also taking part in similar projects. (Hina)
