Tourism Minister Darko Lorencin said on Thursday he was pleased with the increase in tourist arrivals in the first nine months of 2015 on the year and that revenues from foreign tourists this year would exceed EUR 8 billion.

Presenting tourism results in this year's first nine months in Split, Lorencin said arrivals went up 8.4% on the year and nights by 7%. He said September's results exceeded expectations, with 10.3% more nights than in September 2014.

Lorencin said he was pleased that domestic arrivals in the first nine months of 2015 were up 8% on the year. He said this was due to this year's GDP growth, which encouraged spending.

Asked about the impact of the migrant crisis on Croatia's tourism industry, he said "that certainly puts us in the thick of things."
"We've had queries (about migrants), either through tour operators or our diplomatic offices and the Foreign Ministry, and we are responding promptly," he said, adding that it was important to keep tour operators up to date.
