Public presentation of the 'Posedarje Resort'-greenfield project

Public presentation of the "Posedarje Resort"-greenfield project, has been held today in the premises of the primary school Posedarje, in the presence of  Mr. Zdenko Mičić the State secretary for tourism, Mr. Ivo Grbić the Head of the Zadar County, Mr Dario Jurin the president of the Chamber of the Zadar County, Dr. Dragan Magaš Project Expert Committee member, Dr. Ivan Vajić the Head of the Project, Mr. Kruno Škrinjar the director of the consulting company specialized for the public-private partnerships, Mr. Ivica Juričević the Mayor of the Municipality of Posedarje, other municipality and city mayors from the Zadar County, and the representatives of the Institute for urban development planning of the Zadar County.

The project includes construction of the high category tourist potentials in the Posedarje region – for four or five stars rated hotels, luxurious villas and marinas, which will be realized through the joint venture of the Municipality of Posedarje and the Development investor, which will be selected via recently announced international tender.

The estimated total investments costs approximately 125 millions €, and the project will be realized through the five stages. The final stage completion, and also the completion of the entire project is expected to be in May 2009.

The State Secretary for Tourism believes that outcomes of this project would have broader impact. This resort would have the same meaning to Dalmatia, as the reception-desk has to a hotel. Besides the tunnel "Sveti Rok" and the "Maslenica" bridge, this is the first destination that opens the gates of Dalmatia. Ministry fully endorses such projects, especially as we are completely aware of all the problems involved in Croatian tourism, and the problem of “the apartment inflation” in particular. Projects like this one are the best way towards stopping and preventing environmental devastation of the coast, stated Mr. Mičić.

The Head of the Project, Dr. Ivan Vajić, stated that Posedarje is the first municipality in Croatia which has the chance for realization of such a public-private partnership project. The international tender was issued and gained high interest, and the Project should additionally initiate all related activities. Until now, there was no such material in Croatia – it is not only the showcase example for Croatia, but even for the European Union, finally emphasized the Head of the Project.

The Municipality of Posedarje has drafted a study and strategy of its development, in which the tourism certainly represents one of the most important developing directions of this region, emphasized the Mayor of the Municipality of Posedarje, Mr. Juričević, and the Posedarje Resort project has the highest importance for this region. This project will meet the interests of all the inhabitants of the municipality – tourist workers will benefit from the high quality guests, restaurant owners and shopkeepers will increase their turnover, and farmers will gain safe market for their products.
