Some 213,000 tourists are currently staying in Croatia, including 183,000 foreign and 30,000 domestic visitors, the Ministry of Tourism and Sport said on Friday, citing figures from the eVisitor registration system.

The ministry noted that the number of tourists exceeded 200,000 in a single day.

The largest number of overnight stays was generated by German tourists (over 50,000) and domestic tourists (over 30,000). They were followed by tourists from Slovenia (nearly 27,000), Austria (26,000), Poland (17,000) and the Czech Republic (over 16,000).

The most overnight stays were registered in Istria (over 70,000), ahead of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County (43,000) and Split-Dalmatia County (over 34,000).

"This is confirmation that tourists see Croatia as a safe holiday destination. We have ensured all the conditions for this, and observance of the epidemiological measures in place is still key to maintaining the favourable epidemiological situation and achieving a successful season," said the Minister of Tourism and Sport, Nikolina Brnjac.
