A new Croatian camping web portal and activities in the promotion of Croatia as a camping destination were presented to the press in Crikvenica on Wednesday.

The web portal was designed by the Croatian Camping Association (Kamping udruženje Hrvatske - KUH) in cooperation with the National Tourist Board (Hrvatska turistička zajednica – HTZ).

Presenting www.camping.hr, KUH director Adriano Palman said the portal featured all information important for campers' arrival and stay in Croatian camps, from prices, routes and transport to legal provisions and categorization.

The portal was designed in six languages - Croatian, English, German, Italian, Dutch and Slovene.

KUH Executive Committee chair Josipa Cvelić-Bonifačić said KUH comprises 192 of the 232 camps in Croatia.

All Croatian camps can accommodate 225,000 persons and last year they accounted for about 20% of all overnight stays.

The most numerous campers come from Germany, Slovenia, the Netherlands, Italy and Austria.

The Istria and Kvarner region in the northern Adriatic generate the highest number of overnight stays in camps.

Only two per cent of campers are Croatian nationals. (Hina)
