The environmental protection ministry has published the findings of this year's first bathing water quality monitoring, which was conducted on 523 Croatian Adriatic beaches on May 16-20 and shows that bathing water is excellent on 515 beaches (98.5%), good on five (1%), satisfactory on three (0.6%) and unsatisfactory on none, the ministry said on Tuesday.

This year, bathing water quality will be checked on 914 points alongside all seven coastal counties every 15 days until the end of September, the ministry said, adding that water sampling and processing was standardized throughout the European Union and the Mediterranean and that the findings are available on the European Environment Agency's website as well as on the Croatian ministry's website.
