Minister says two remaining state-owned tourism properties to be put up for sale by summer

State Assets Minister Goran Maric said on Wednesday that the two remaining state-owned properties intended for tourism would be put up for sale before the summer - a children's holiday camp in the southern coastal town of Baska Voda and a children's rehabilitation centre in the nearby village of Krvavica.

In an interview with Croatian Radio, Maric commented on a HRK 153.5 million agreement on the sale and transfer of shares of the Dubrovnik-based Hoteli Maestral company to the PND Strategija company, which was signed on Tuesday.

He said Hoteli Maestral was the last large state-owned hotel company in Croatia, comprising five hotels - Uvala, Splendid, Komodor, Vis and Adriatic, as well as the Adriatic Rooms pavilion. The complex boasts 473 rooms with 933 beds.

The agreement was signed by Maric, Matea Matekovic of PND Strategija and Milan Plecas, director of the Restructuring and Sale Centre (CERP).

Maric said that with the last three privatisation tenders in the hotel sector the government had secured around HRK 600 million for the state budget and more than HRK 2.5 billion worth of investments. (EUR 1 = HRK 7.4)
