The ongoing summer season is specific in many elements and it is difficult to compare it with the last year's season, Tourism Minister Darko Lorencin said on Friday after a meeting of the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) in Zagreb on Friday.

As for the statistics on the number of arrivals and overnight stays, some regions and destinations are reporting an increase while others are reporting lower turnovers, according to the minister's explanation.

He said that additional measures were being taken to offset the decline.

HTZ director-general Meri Matesic told the meeting that this season so far, including July, had seen a mild rise in the tourist trade in all regions except Istria with a downturn. (Hina)
