Minister announces import of tourism workers from Ukraine, Albania

Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli on Tuesday announced the possibility of importing seasonal workers from several countries.

"We are talking with Ukraine and Albania as well as with some other surrounding countries about workers because their shortage in tourism is troubling many countries. In Austria, for example, about 90,000 foreigners work in tourism, while here they make up only five to six percent of all those employed," Cappelli told reporters.

He recalled that about 8,000 foreigners were employed in Croatian tourism last year and that this year's quota for foreign workers in this industry was 15,000. He said, however, that the domestic workforce would again be given priority in hiring. (Hina)
