Meri Matesic is the new director of the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) Head Office, taking over on 1 November from Niko Bulic who had filled that position for the past 12 years, the HTZ Council announced on Tuesday.

Matesic has been the director of the HTZ London Office since 2008. Prior to that she worked for the Interalfa agency as the sales and marketing director in the Falkensteiner Hotel in Zadar.

Tourism Minister and HTZ President Veljko Ostojic said at the HTZ Council meeting that the newly-appointed director would be faced with major challenges to introduce rationalisation measures and come up with an innovative operational plan for Croatian tourism in 2013.

He thanked the outgoing director for his contribution to the functioning and development of local tourist boards.

Speaking to Hina from London, Matesic said that she was grateful for the confidence placed in her and that she would work on better positioning Croatia in the world as well as restructuring the system of tourist boards to improve their functioning at all levels. (Hina)
