The Lika region of central Croatia has again been included among the world's top 100 green and sustainable destinations in 2021 by the international foundation Green Destinations, the Lika Destination Cluster said on Wednesday.

For the seventh year, Green Destinations puts the spotlight on sustainable green destinations across the globe, collecting stories of sustainable tourism and good practice.

Lika was first included last year. The Lika Destination Cluster said this was a great recognition of their dedicated work and perseverance, and that their continued commitment was recognised again this year.

"Destination Lika is special in many aspects. Nearly 60 percent of its area is protected, and it is home to eight protected nature reserves, including three national parks. Clean nature ensures the growth and cultivation of high-quality foodstuffs," said the Lika Destination Cluster, the only cluster in Lika, established several years ago to promote the region's tourism industry under the slogan "Smart sustainable destination".
