Croatian President Ivo Josipovic has said he hopes that the tourist season in the end will be successful after all, but that the final assessment can be given only once the season is over.

"Due to climate changes and the economic situation, the pace of arrival of foreign tourists is somewhat different than the one we are used to,” Josipovic said on Sunday expressing hope that by the end of the season Croatia would have a good “score”.

Commenting on his three day visit to Istria, the president reiterated that Istria was a role model region not only in Croatia but in Europe as well, adding that tourism and agriculture in Istria and its attitude towards investments were somewhat different and better than in other parts of Croatia.

"Now that we are a member of the European Union there are new windows of opportunity and the results of our European reality will first be seen in Istria ", Josipovic said.

On Sunday evening, Josipovic attended the ATP Vegeta Croatia Open finals in the northern Adriatic resort of Umag. (Hina)
