Inkey castle in Rasinja to become wellness centre, winery

The reconstruction of the Inkey Castle in Rasinja, worth about €12 million, will create new accommodation capacities and wellness facilities in Koprivnica-Križevci County within two years.

The dilapidated Inkey Castle was purchased in 2019 for the then HRK 400,000 (€53k) by Koprivnica-Križevci County from the company Gratit, and in a few years it should be completely renovated to be used in tourism.

After Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Tourism Minister Nikolina Brnjac handed over a decision on the co-financing of the renovation of the historic building with €10 million to county prefect Darko Koren on Friday, the rehabilitation of the castle began.

According to Koprivnica-Križevci County, the Inkey Castle, which was built in the mid-19th century, will be used for wellness tourism. In addition to the wellness aspect, this cultural asset will also promote winemaking and the winemakers of the Koprivnica-Križevci County.

As county prefect Koren told Hina, the building permit was obtained and under the co-financing agreement the project must be completed within two years. However, it is also possible to extend the deadlines if unforeseen situations arise. Koren added that the county is obliged to own the castle for at least five years.

The castle, built by the baronial family Inkey, was built in various styles of historicism. Until 1994, when it was completely abandoned, it was used as a primary school, a registry office and a health clinic.
