The Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) leadership on Friday approved €3 million for cooperation with strategic foreign partners, including tour operators and air companies, and decided to upgrade its cooperation with the Bayern football club and the German ADAC automobile club.

The HTZ will advertise public calls for the development of the programmes of destination management companies (DMCs) and for the implementation of the marketing cooperation with Croatia's top-notch athletes in 2024, in order to boost the Croatian tourism industry's competitiveness.

The HTZ director-general, Kristjan Staničić, said that destination management companies play an important role in developing the tourism industry and in the extension of the season and increase of visits outside the peak of the tourist season.

In 2023, Croatia registered 108 million overnight stays, and 26 million were realised by travel agencies, or 25% of the total number, he said.

We find it important to continue cooperation with the best national athletes who have won medals at Olympic games, world and European championships and other international competitions. This contributes to  better visibility of the national tourist brand and better reach of the communication messages, said Staničić.

Concerning foreign partners, including tour operators and air companies, the HTZ will continue cooperating with TUI, easyJet holidays, DER Touristik, Jet2holidays, Ryanair, Air France, Volotea, KLM, Eurowings etc.

The HTZ also approved the funding for enabling Istria to be granted a status of exclusive tourist partner of  FC Bayern München.

Concerning ADAC, Tourism Minsiter Nikolina Brnjac said last November that cooperation with this German automobile association was excellent and important both for tourism and for transport (Jadrolinija, highways, etc.), and that it would continue, with mutual respect for sustainable principles in joint projects.

ADAC has 21.5 million members in Germany, and more than 80% of Germans trust their recommendations, and this cooperation is very important.

The HTZ leadership today gave a go-ahead for the continuation of this cooperation.

Also the HTZ will cooperate with the Expedia Group, a travel technology company that owns and operates travel fare aggregators and travel metasearch engines and with Paramount channels for marketing purposes.
