HRK 174 mn for renewable energy projects in tourism, trade

Grant agreements within a tender to improve energy efficiency and renewable energy usage in tourism and commerce were signed on Tuesday and presented to beneficiaries in Smiljan, near Gospic, by Environment Protection and Energy Minister Tomislav Coric and the director of the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund, Dubravko Ponos.

Of the 132 project proposals, 75 met all the requirements to be granted HRK 174.6 million. The initial amount was HRK 76 million. The 75 projects are valued at HRK 311.5 million and the funds are coming from the Competitive and Cohesion Fund 2014-2020.

The expectation is that after the foreseen activities are implemented, the emission of CO2 gasses will be reduced by 3,700 tonnes a year, and that investments in energy efficiency measures in the tourism sector will reduce energy consumption by 5.5 million kWh a year and that new renewable energy capacities will increase by 9.7 million kWh.
