The government on Thursday gave permission to the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets to sign Annex II to the Contract for the implementation of the Kupari tourist resort project in Župa Dubrovačka and agree new time limits with the investor, Kupari Luxury Hotels, for the completion of this project.

The Kupari project is one of the most important projects for the construction of tourism infrastructure in Croatia, given that it is located in the Dubrovnik area, which is being developed as a high-end tourist destination, Minister Branko Bačić said at the cabinet meeting.

He recalled that in 2016 the government had signed a contract with a bidding consortium for the construction of two new hotels, the revitalisation of other facilities and the reconstruction of the Hotel Grand.

In the meantime, several things have happened that required the adoption of today's decision, including a change in the investor's ownership structure and the need to amend the urban development plan for Župa Dubrovačka Municipality in consultation with the investor, Bačić said.

The Kupari resort is expected to open in 2025.
