Gospić to mark Tesla's 167th birth anniversary with "Tesla - Power of Lights" event

The central Croatian town of Gospić will stage a three-day event called "Tesla - Power of Lights", marking the 167th birth anniversary of the world-famous inventor Nikola Tesla, born in the village of Smiljan near Gospić.

The event, to start on Saturday, will include a theatre performance, a concert, a night run, and a roundtable discussion, to be held at the Nikola Tesla Memorial Centre in Smiljan on Monday, as well as a musical and theatrical performance entitled "Tesla" by the Nikola Tesla Network association, to be given by Slovenian musician and physicist Janez Dovč.

Admission to the Nikola Tesla Memorial Centre on Monday will be free.

Using unusual musical instruments and technical devices such as a Tesla coil and laser harp, Dovč presents Tesla as a scientist and inventor as well as an all-round artist. In addition to Gospić, the performance will also be staged in Zagreb, Karlovac and Šibenik in the coming days.

The Tesla - Power of Lights was organised by the Gospić city administration and the local tourism board.
