A total of HRK 25.3 billion worth of receipts were fiscalised in the hospitality industry in 2021, which is 61% more than in 2020 and 89% of the value of fiscalised receipts in the record-breaking year 2019, the Tourism and Sports Ministry said on Tuesday, citing data from the Tax Administration.

"We are very satisfied with these results. The impact of tourism on the national economy will be known in the first quarter of this year, when the Croatian National Bank publishes data on total revenue for 2021," Minister Nikolina Brnjac said commenting on the latest data.

The minister said that Croatia can offer quality, autochthonous products and product diversity to its visitors year-round and that in 2022 the focus will be on product sustainability and environmental and social awareness.

The ministry recalled recent HNB data for the first nine months of 2021, showing that revenue from foreign visitors amounted to €8.2 billion, 90% up from the same period of 2020 and 88% of the revenue generated in the same period of 2019.

In the third quarter (July, August, September) of 2021 alone, revenue from foreign visitors amounted to €6.7 billion, around 3.3 billion or almost 100% more than in the same period of 2020.
