The Fifth Festival of Lights Zagreb, featuring a combination of art, design, spectacle, entertainment and architecture, was opened with a spectacular laser show at the Tuškanac Summer Stage on Wednesday evening to once again enliven the popular locations of the Upper and Lower Town.

The event, taking place from 15 to 19 March, is a prelude to the spring part of the tourist year in the Croatian capital, featuring 33 illuminated installations by local and foreign artists at 28 venues.

Artists from Germany, the Netherlands, France and Italy, in addition to those from Croatia, are presenting their installations at the festival.

This year's program combines the best of visual and performing arts and modern technology.

The festival will celebrate love and happiness and good emotions associated with the arrival of spring, as well as raise topical themes such as alienation and climate change.

Visitors can view light installations, impressive projection mapping, playful animations and colourful objects every day from 6pm to 11pm, with free admission to all attractions.
