European Week of Sport opens in Zagreb
The European Week of Sport opened in Zagreb on Monday for the tenth year in a row, with a wide range of activities held under the motto #BeActive.
The event was opened by Tourism and Sport Minister Tonči Glavina, who highlighted the importance of this initiative that promotes an active and healthy lifestyle. In the last nine years, nearly 300,000 citizens have been engaged in various sports activities. Last year alone, about 155 events were organised, involving over 45,000 people, the minister said.
"Physical activity has a great positive impact on increasing the quality of life, which is especially important for children and young people, because physical activity has a positive impact on their physical, psychological and social development. That's why it is very important that they acquire the habit of engaging in physical activity at an early age in order to keep it for the rest of their lives," Glavina said.
