In Italy, the promotion of Croatia's shoulder season tourism is focused on yachting, culture and health and it has aroused the interest of Italian partners at TTG Travel Experiences, Italy's biggest tourism fair, which opened in Rimini on Wednesday, Croatia's National Tourist Board (HTZ) said. Croatia is represented by HTZ and eight other exhibitors. The fair brought together 2,100 exhibitors from 150 destinations and closes on Friday.

Italy is among the ten most important tourist markets for Croatia, with 1.1 million arrivals and over five million nights recorded in the first nine months of this year, increases of 3% in relation to the same time in 2017, said HTZ director Kristjan Stanicic.

In September alone, 90,000 Italians vacationed in Croatia, up 25% on the year, registering 370,000 nights, up 15%, he added.

This autumn Croatia's destinations will also be presented at a nautical fair in Genoa and a culture fair in Siena, said the head of HTZ's Milan office, Viviana Vukelic.

According to the TOMAS Summer 2017 survey, on average Italians have visited Croatia six times, staying eight days and spending 76 euros per day, a little more than the overall average.
