Croatia visited by increasing number of foreign cruise ships

In the first eight months of this year, 390 foreign cruise ships visited the Croatian Adriatic, up 4.6% from the same period last year, the Central Bureau of Statistics said on Wednesday.

The number of passengers aboard foreign cruisers increased by 16.2% year on year, reaching 436,200. They spent 14.7% more days in Croatia than in the same period of 2006.

Dubrovnik saw the largest number of cruiser arrivals, 346, followed by Korcula, which received 71 vessels. Zadar recorded 59 cruise trips, Split 55, Pula 43, Hvar 27, Mljet 19 and Ploce 16.

Most of the cruisers, 85, sailed under the flag of the Bahamas; 48 sailed under the Greek flag, 41 under the German flag and 37 under the Panamanian flag.  (Hina)
