Croatia to Chair Regional Commission of WTO for Europe

Today, Croatia has been elected the chair country of the Regional Commission for Europe (CEU) at the 16th session of the World Tourism Organization (WTO) General Assembly in Senegal (25 November – 2 December).For the past 14 years, the CEU has been chaired by Switzerland.

The other country competing for this position was the Russian Federation. The Croatian Delegation at the WTO General Assembly, held in Dakar, is headed by the State Secretary for Tourism Zdenko Mičić.

The General Assembly is being organized every two years, regularly preceded by the sessions of the Regional Commissions of member countries and the WTO Executive Council (Croatia - member since 2003).

The next CEU meeting, presided by Croatia, will be organized in Kazakhstan. Croatia considers this appointment to be an important confirmation for all its good tourist results achieved in 2005.
