Croatia will be Belgium's partner country at this year's international tourism fair in Antwerp, Belgium’s biggest and oldest tourism fair, as the organizers of the event and the representatives of the Croatian Tourist Board stated at a press-conference in Antwerp on Thursday.

The tourism fair in Antwerp, which attracts around 120,000 visitors, will be held from 26 to 31 January.

A representative of the Croatian Tourist Board office in Brussels, Nic Peeters, spoke to some 40 Belgian reporters about Croatia's tourism, the country's rich cultural heritage, nature and gastronomy.

Belgium is a very interesting tourist market for Croatia. In the period between 2001 and 2005 the number of Belgian tourists in Croatia more than doubled - in 2001 Croatia registered 42,000 arrivals, while in 2005, more than 91,000 Belgians visited that country.

In the first eleven months of 2006, Croatia was visited by 91,624 Belgian guests, according to the latest data from the State Bureau of Statistics.
