An upward trend in the number of tourist arrivals and bed-nights, except in the pandemic year 2020, was registered in Croatia's tourist trade in the last ten years, the national statistical office (DZS) said in a press release on Tuesday, on the occasion of World Tourism Day, marked on 27 September.

This year, the motto chosen by the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) for World Tourism Day is "Tourism and Green Investments".

The DZS also says that over the last ten years, Croatia boosted investments in accommodation capacities, which increased by 34.3% from 2013 to 415,000 units such as rooms, bed and breakfast facilities and camp sites.

UNWTO calls for more investments in the recovery of this industry in the post-pandemic period and in future growth and development.

It also calls for innovative solutions that will contribute to environment protection and sustainability.
