From 31 January till 4 February, Spain hosted one of the largest international tourist fairs “Fitur 2007“.

This year's event, which was opened by the Spanish king Don Juan Carlos, counted 13 190 companies, 845 exhibitors from 170 countries, covering an area of 90 000 square meters. Compared to the previous year, the exhibition also registered more guests, reaching the number of 150 000 visitors.

Croatia was presented by the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) along with other representatives of the Croatian tourist offer for the Spanish market. During the fair, the Croatian exhibition area was visited by many journalists and future tourists. They mostly asked about information regarding the country’s cultural and natural heritage, islands and special forms of tourism (nautical, adventure, culinary and other).

Spanish tour operator confirmed that the interest for Croatia was growing from year to year and some of them even said that they had to double the number of charter flights to Croatia, for the upcoming season.

Based on such a positive feed-back, air companies could easily introduce a direct flight from Spain to Croatia during the next year, if not for the whole 12 month then at least for the main season.
