Croatia reports increase in tourist arrivals and bed nights in July and first seven months

Croatian commercial tourist accommodation establishments reported a year-on-year increase of 1.2% in the number of tourists in July and a 1.8% rise in bed nights, the National Bureau of Statistics said on Tuesday.

The number of foreign tourists in July rose 1.2% and they generated 2.2% more bed nights than in July last year. Germans generated 17% of bed nights, followed by Slovenians (13.6%), Czechs (9.4%), Poles (8.3%), Austrians (7.8%), the Dutch (6.2%) and Slovaks (5.4%).

The number of tourist arrivals and bed nights also increased in the first seven months of the year compared to the same period of 2012, going up 3.5% and 3.1% respectively. The number of foreign tourist arrivals was up 4.2% and the number of foreign bed nights 3.7%.

On the other hand, the number of domestic tourists in the first seven months of 2013 fell 0.6% and they generated 3.5% fewer bed nights than in the corresponding period of last year. In July, the number of domestic tourists rose 0.7%, but the number of their bed nights declined 3.7% in relation to July 2012.

The figures do not include tourist arrivals and bed nights at commercial accommodation facilities in marinas. (Hina)
