Croatia records 12.4% increase in number of tourists in October

The increases were mostly due to foreign holiday makers as 707,000 foreign tourists (+15.4%) visited Croatia in October and spent 2.2 million nights (+13.3%).

The number of Croatian tourists decreased by 0.4% and the number of overnight stays generated by them fell by about 3%, compared with October 2016.

Most of the tourists, or 144,000 of them, visited Dubrovnik-Neretva County, generating nearly 500,000 overnight stays. Among the foreign tourists who stayed in commercial accommodation, the largest number of overnight stays was generated by Germans, ahead of Britons, Austrians, Slovenians, Americans and the French.

In the first ten months of 2017, nearly 17 million tourist arrivals and 85 million overnight stays were registered, which are increases of 13% and 11% respectively over the same period in 2016.

The number of Croatian tourists and their overnight stays increased by 5% and 3% respectively, while the number of foreign tourists and their overnight stays rose by 14% and 11% compared with the first ten months of 2016.
